Draft — pending legal review

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using Settled Up ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. The Service is operated by Au Courant Ltd ("we", "us", "our").

2. The service

Settled Up is an expense-splitting tool that helps groups of people track shared costs and calculate who owes what. The Service is provided "as is" and we may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time.

3. Accounts

  • You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You must not share your magic link login emails with others.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its systems.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Use automated tools to access the Service without our permission.
  • Upload malicious content or attempt to exploit vulnerabilities.

5. Payments and pricing

  • Settled Up offers a free tier with a limited number of tabs.
  • Additional tabs may be purchased on a pay-as-you-go basis.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. All prices are in GBP unless otherwise stated.
  • Purchases are non-refundable unless required by applicable law.

6. Your data

You retain ownership of the data you enter into the Service (expense descriptions, amounts, etc.). By using the Service, you grant us a licence to store and process this data solely for the purpose of providing the Service. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle your data.

7. Accuracy of calculations

We take care to ensure that expense splits, balance calculations, and settlement suggestions are accurate. However, the Service is a tool to assist with expense tracking — it is not financial advice. You are responsible for verifying amounts and making actual payments outside of the Service.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Au Courant Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We may delete your data after a reasonable period following account termination.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice on the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Contact
